Las Vegas is just as suited for a golf trip as it is for a bachelor party. Similar to the desert climates of golf meccas Scottsdale and Palm Springs, the arid, warm landscape gives way to gorgeous, lush green fairways set aside stunning mountains and beautiful natural rock formations. While the sheer number of courses can’t match its counterparts in Arizona and California, the overall quality of the golf is outstanding. Being a resort town, nearly all of the courses are open to the public, or at least resort guests, so the only barrier preventing you from playing Vegas’ world-renowned courses is a big chunk of money.
Las Vegas is home to golf courses designed by Tom Fazio, Jack Nicklaus, Pete Dye, Rees Jones, and other famous golf course designers, so picking the best course in the area is incredibly difficult. There is one course, however, that consistently rises to the top as a favorite for all types of players based on it’s incredible layout and conditioning: Shadow Creek. Shadow Creek is a Fazio course that was once ultra private and nearly impossible to get on, which only adds to its mystique even though now any guest staying at an MGM Resort can make a tee time. It is one of the most gorgeous courses in the country and ranks as the #17 best course you can play in America by Golf Digest. Another can’t miss, very unique course in Vegas is the Wynn Golf Club at the Wynn Las Vegas. The course is the only one right on the strip, and the first tee is just steps away from the resort. It is also ranked as one of the top courses you can play in America and is easily the most convenient in Sin City.
The list is too long to mention all of the amazing courses in the area, but one thing is for sure, make sure you bring a fat wallet, or at least a credit card with plenty of available credit. Most of these courses will run you at least $200 and often well over $500. For some more affordable entertainment, head over to TopGolf Vegas. It is the flagship TopGolf facility in the nation, with over one hundred hitting bays, five different bars, two pools, and a concert venue that holds a thousand people. Partying meets golf, it’s a match made in heaven for Las Vegas.
Being the entertainment capital of the world, Las Vegas also hosts a PGA Tour event, the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. The tournament is contested each year at the TPC at Summerlin course, a beautiful desert course always kept in immaculate shape. As is the case with lots of desert golf, the scores are low, and birdies and eagles fly!
