Nashville, TN Golf Lessons

Close-Up: The Golf Scene In Nashville, TN

Forever known as the birthplace of country music, Nashville's proximity to the Cumberland River has ensured its place as a permanent tourist destination of the deep South. The Music City offers a variety of places to stay for visiting golfers, and for those traveling with the kids looking for more family-friendly golf adventures, the city also boasts a number of mini-golf courses. The city government operates a handful of courses, while there are several other resort and daily free courses that have garnered accolades from national publications for their excellence and affordability.

Nashville hosts a diverse network of municipal courts, which are operated by the city. They number half a dozen in total, and appeal to a variety of skill levels. If you're looking for a regional qualifying site for the United States Golf Association's Amateur Public Links Championship, check out Harpeth Hills. Meanwhile, McCabe serves west Nashville, and includes 27 holes and five different players' associations, all of which feature tournaments and social events. Founded in 1937, Percy Warner is a nine-hole that plays to a par of 34. For those who enjoy a dash of history with their game, Shelby Park was built in 1924 and is officially Nashville's oldest course.

Going beyond the municipal courts, Gaylord Springs Golf Links at Gaylord Opryland is the single resort experience choice for the city of Nashville. Directly inspired by Scottish links courses, the 18-hole design is open to the public along with guests of the Opryland. You can play the course on a daily rate (The Springs Card) which provides a discount on daily greens fees, or there's always the Annual pass. It might be a bit pricey (a whopping $1,695 per year), but ponying up for the pass does guarantee unlimited rounds, tee times up to 30 days in advance, a locker, and discounts on merchandise.
